Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given to him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given to him a great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and see a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the middle of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see you hurt not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth (Revelation 6:1–8).
All those who are familiar with the Bible may know that this is a prophecy of the end of the world in the Book of Revelation. As it is prophesied, the four horsemen appear when the first four of the seven seals are opened. With the appearance of the four horsemen, pestilence, war, famine and death would come, killing a quarter of the people on the earth.
Has this prophecy been fulfilled? Let us look at the disasters that have occurred in the past few years: From the end of 2019 to the present, in just over 2 years, COVID-19 has been raging throughout the world with more than 500 million people infected and a shocking death toll! Wars have been constant in recent years, such as the wars in Myanmar and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Besides, the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022 that has attracted the world’s attention has caused a great impact on the whole world! Many scholars of the Bible think that the two horsemen that represent pestilence and war most likely have come. What’s even more frightening, the pandemic and wars are ongoing, so famine is inevitable, and the future is unimaginable. So are the two horsemen presenting famine and death really on the way? No matter what the answer is, according to biblical prophecies, greater disasters will come one after another. Just as God’s words say, “All manner of disasters will befall, one after another; all nations and places will experience calamities: Plague, famine, flood, drought, and earthquakes are everywhere. These disasters are not just happening in one or two places, nor will they be over within a day or two; rather, instead they will expand across a greater and greater area, and become more and more severe. During this time, all manner of insect plagues will arise one after another, and the phenomenon of cannibalism will occur everywhere. This is My judgment upon all nations and peoples.”
